Baltic Sea resort of Ahlbeck

The Baltic Sea resort of Ahlbeck is the easternmost seaside resort on the island of Usedom and is one of the three district resorts. Ahlbeck is located directly on the border with the Polish port city of Świnoujście.

The name Ahlbeck is derived from the name "Aalbach", which connected the Gothensee with the Baltic Sea near Ahlbeck. That's why there is still an eel in the coat of arms of the Baltic Sea resort of Ahlbeck today.

The Baltic Sea resort of Ahlbeck was founded around 1700. The first bathing season took place in Ahlbeck in 1852, making it one of the oldest seaside resorts on the Baltic coast.

Many hotels, guesthouses and villas were built in the style of the spa architecture typical of the 1900s.

The landmark of the town and the island of Usedom is the pier, which is more than 100 years old. The historic one was built in 1899 with a jetty extending 280 m into the sea in Wilhelminian style architecture and renovated in 1993.
