Nazareth Monastery in Oirschot is still inhabited by the Franciscan Sisters. They were first located in Weert, but left that place at the end of the 18th century to settle here in Oirschot. At the beginning of the 20th century it became apparent that the building of that time no longer suited the activities and size of the order. The current monastery, which is a national monument, was then built in the years 1910-1931.

The congregation of Franciscan Sisters is an integral part of Oirschot. In the two centuries that the sisters have lived there, they have had a great influence on care and education.

In the sixties, many tasks in care and education were taken over by lay organizations. Fewer sisters joined and groups of religious left the mother house to live together in smaller communities elsewhere. The monastery became a coat that became increasingly spacious. A number of buildings were converted into homes and a care institution, Amaliazorg Kempenhaeve.
