    The statue of Nasimi, Baku, NizamiThe great poet and thinker Nasimi is famous for writing about love, beauty, and belief and for being founder of the native-speaking philosophical poetry in Azerbaijani literature. Seyid Imadeddin Nasimi, who was born in Shirvan, one of the greatest poetry and arts centres in 1369, has travelled starting from Baku all over the Middle East and tragically passed away in 1417 in Aleppo. The authors of the statue at a height of 6.5 meters opened in 1979 are people’s artists Tokay Mammadov and Ibrahim Zeynalov.

      Imadaddin Nasimi (born ca. 1369–1417) is one of the greatest Turkish-language poets and philosophers in the history of Azerbaijan. He is considered one of the most prominent figures in Azerbaijani literature and the founder of classical Azerbaijani poetry.

      Mystical poet: Nasimi was a Sufi poet and a follower of Hurufism, a mystical and pantheistic movement within Islam. This led to controversial ideas about humanity and the divine, which he openly explored in his poetry.
