Apart from its size, not found elsewhere in this region and hardly outside this one, its centuries-old existence and the fact that it survived the decimation caused by the terrible phylloxera aphid, between the second half of the 19th century and the first half of the 20th century, make this majestic example of the native "Petit rouge" vine a vegetal monument steeped in history and traditions. Age and partial abandonment have weakened it a bit but, supported by the pergola erected in ancient times as its form of cultivation, it still manages
prodigiously every year to produce a few bunches of grapes.
Its shoots, subjected to analysis, confirmed that the specimen belongs to this one
native vine typical of our region, abundantly widespread in the
vineyards in the center of the valley, between Saint-Vincente and Avise.
