The Chapel on the New Way

It may have been built in connection with the construction of the New Way, as nothing more is known about its construction. It was certainly an expression of gratitude for the new road carved into the rock, which provided faster and safer access to the "New Meadows" on the Rausch River. The chapel was re-consecrated on September 14, 1919, after a thorough renovation by the early masser Hirschmann.

At 2 p.m., the parish congregation marched in a solemn procession to the chapel to participate in the consecration and a subsequent devotion to the Virgin Mary.

Inside stood an approximately 80 cm high Madonna and Child, which had formerly been located in the parish church.

After a break-in and its complete destruction in November 1987, we received a beautiful wooden Madonna and Child from a deeply religious Rauenthal resident. On September 25, 1988, it was carried in a solemn procession by the youth fire brigade and, after being blessed in the church, taken its place on Neuer Weg.
