    The Reichenbach Pond is idyllically situated in the middle of the forest and belongs to the local fishing club. A lovingly designed fishing hut with a covered terrace and some seating offers a lovely place to enjoy a break. We even spotted a mourning cloak (a rare butterfly) at the fire pit.

      The Reichenbach Pond is located in an extensive forest area and is a popular destination for hikers and nature lovers.

      In the past, there were no well-developed roads for transporting the felled timber. Therefore, lumberjacks used the pond to float the timber down into the valley using the power of the water. Floating long timber was not possible in the small streams. Therefore, the logs were cut into meter-long pieces, split, and stacked along the streams. In the spring, the lumberjacks threw the timber into the water. During snowmelt and floods, the pond was opened, and the water masses carried the logs down into the valley. With the improvement of transport routes, rafting declined in importance.

      When the rivers no longer carried enough water during very dry summers, the ponds were opened to use the water to power the heavy wheels of the many mills.
