Construction of the church began in 1855 and replaced an old oratory. The Grand Duke of Tuscany Leopold II had the building completed in 1861. Remains of the base of a building from around 1400 can still be seen. The church opened on December 24, 1865.

The church of San Vincenzo Ferreri is the oldest of the three churches in the city (the others are Sant'Alfonso and Santa Barbara) and is located right in the center of the town, south of the pedestrian area. Its construction began in 1855, replacing the old oratory, and finished in 1861 thanks to the interest of the Grand Duke of Tuscany Leopold II, but it bears traces of a base dating back to around 1400.
The church was opened for worship on 24 December 1865.
The architectural style is simple: a single nave with a central altar. The original wooden altar, which was the one in the old oratory, was later replaced by the stone one. Originally the church had three doors, one central and two lateral. The side doors were eliminated during the 20th century following the renovation of the building.
The pictorial works inside the church are:
The Crucifixion which dominates the background of the choir painted by Carlo Guarnieri (Campiglia Marittima, 1892 – Grosseto, 1988), one of the greatest xylographers in the world, master of the painter Daniele Govi;
The cycle of twelve frescoes by the painter and sculptor Giampaolo Talani (San Vincenzo, 1955 – Pisa, 2018), commissioned in 1978 and created between 1979 and 1989: 200 square meters of fresco painting depicting eight episodes from the life of Christ and his Evangelists placed in the spandrels at the four internal corners of the building.
