A real natural island is located between Alter and Neuer Oder on Ziegenwerder in Frankfurt (Oder). The island owes its name to the fact that the goats of the Oder fishermen received their food from here. In the 19th and 20th centuries, the Frankfurters spent their free time in the bathing establishments along the river, the last remnants of which had to give way to the present-day Europa Garden in 2003 as part of the transformation. The lower eastern part of the island with its old giant trees, which is often flooded in spring and autumn, was largely left in its original state.
