The Staffelberg is 539 m above sea level. NHN high, witness mountain in front of the Franconian Alb in the so-called God's Garden on the Upper Main. It is the local mountain of Bad Staffelstein in the Lichtenfels district in Upper Franconia. The name of the survey is derived from the pronounced terrain steps (“echelons”), which provide an insightful insight into the geological history of the Jurassic period. From the Neolithic period (around 5000 BC) to the Migration Period (around 300 to 500 AD), the mountain was inhabited several times. During the La Tène period, the Celtic oppidum on the Staffelberg lay on the high plateau, whose ancient name may have been Menosgada. Today there is the Staffelbergklause with a beer garden and the Adelgundiskapelle, built in 1653. In the folklore of the region, the Staffelberg is considered one of the three holy mountains of the Franconia, along with the Kreuzberg and the Walberla.
