In 1265, Prince Abbot Bertho II had a city wall built around Geisa. It received several towers as well as upper and lower gates. The wall with the towers is still in good condition in parts, but the gates were unfortunately removed in 1832.

City fortifications

The Geisa city fortifications are still largely preserved. It was built in 1265 and rebuilt in 1594. The eastern part of the wall is preserved as a high wall with buttresses and embrasures, while the western part is partially built over with residential buildings.
