Camigliano was certainly inhabited in the remote past by the Etruscans, who followed the course of the Ombrone river from the coastal areas of the Maremma. It then became a village of some importance in the early Middle Ages, an outpost of Montalcino, with which it shared the fight in the defense of republican freedom in the mid-16th century.
The climate is Mediterranean, warm, dry and ventilated. A place of Mediterranean scrub, with mastic, strawberry tree, myrtle and juniper plants, it is an ideal habitat for various species of animals such as: wild boar, porcupine, weasel and roe deer.
The landscape that presents itself to the visitor changes, from the intense green of the fields in spring, to golden yellow in summer and brown in autumn, interrupted by evergreen patches of Mediterranean scrub. Currently, around 15 people regularly live in the village.
