The first mention of this house is associated with the merchant Zabludovsky. Therefore, the house is often called "Zabludovsky's house". It got its second name "house-kaleidoscope" for its very expressive and sometimes even flashy architecture. Its project belonged to the tandem of architects Pavel Ulrichovich Klein - Bruno Albertovich Bauer (1870 - 1930s) and consisted of a four-story building along the red building line of the street with luxurious apartments, the ceiling height of which reached four meters with a floor-by-floor reduction.
At one time, the house was considered an example of kitsch and bad taste. Too much decor, oversaturation with decorations, the combination of several directions in architecture were not perceived by the contemporaries of the house very much.
