Seen at least 6 Stations of the Cross from the town center (fire station) of Gevelinghausen up to the Marienkapelle.
"Out of gratitude for having been largely spared from severe damage during World War II, the Marienkapelle was built in Gevelinghausen near Olsberg in December 1953 in honor of the Blessed Mother Mary on the "Westhelle". Five years later, in 1958, the Stations of the Cross, along fields and forests in the district of Gevelinghausen to a forest clearing in front of the Marienkapelle, came about thanks to the great willingness to donate and the active commitment of many villagers. The so-called "Anröchter sandstone" was used as the material for the construction of the stations. Except for the sixth station, all stations were built from one of these sandstones. Station VI was built from a solid stone and donated by Vicar Kutzmann. In the middle of the niches of each station, reproductions of pictures of the Passion of Christ were installed. Since these reproductions did not withstand the weather, they were cast in 1970 with bronze pictures by the Oventrop company based on designs by the artist Bernhard Gohla from Lippstadt and fitted into the niches of the stations by craftsmen from Gevelinghausen.”
