The Spiegel building Ericusspitze is a high-rise building in Hamburg's HafenCity in the Brooktorkai/Ericus district and has been used by the Spiegel Group as its company headquarters since 2012. The design comes from the Copenhagen architecture firm Henning Larsen Architects. The 13-storey skyscraper is 61 meters high, has a solid base and a gross floor area of around 30,000 square meters. The shape of the glass facade is intended to symbolize the frame around the 1100 Spiegel employees who work here.
The interior of the building is organized like an atrium house, in which several bridges represent direct pathways. This is intended to promote communication between employees. The external, single-storey offices alternate with open areas that are twice as high and are connected to one another via internal galleries.
According to the investor, the building's energy and technology concept should simultaneously take into account ecological, economic and social aspects. There is no air conditioning or conventional radiators. The room climate is regulated by a naturally rear-ventilated double façade with integrated sun protection, a heating and cooling sail on the ceiling of each office and a concrete core activation in the floor slab of each floor supplied by the geothermal system.
