The Abbey of Santa Maria di Vezzolano, located in the hills of Monferrato, is a jewel of Romanesque-Gothic architecture. Dating back to the 12th century, it preserves medieval frescoes and a valuable carved pier, and is surrounded by an aura of history and spirituality.

The Abbey of Santa Maria di Vezzolano is a religious building in Romanesque and Gothic style, one of the most important medieval monuments in Piedmont, located in the municipality of Albugnano in the province of Asti. The name "abbey" has always been used improperly, even by the public authorities responsible for its management, since the church has never been like that. The correct name is Canonica di Santa Maria di Vezzolano, as can be seen from the attached bibliography.

Since December 2014, the Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities has managed it through the Piedmont Museum Complex, which became the Regional Directorate for Museums in December 2019. The abbey is included in the Trans-Romanesque Cultural Route of the Council of Europe.
