The Ouvrage, or Kasermatte, "Fort aux Fresques" at Hestroff in France (Grand-Est) was a bunker along France's Maginot Line, built in the 1930s as a defense system against possible attacks from Germany.
Fort aux Fresques includes underground bunkers, gun emplacements and defenses. Today, the Fort aux Fresques is open to the public and offers visitors an insight into the military history and defense system of the Maginot Line.

Casemates were massive bunkers with weapons and communications facilities. They were designed to stop the enemy's advance and ensure protection of the French border. Ultimately, the Maginot Line was bypassed by German troops during World War II. The casemates are a historical testimony of the defense strategies of the time.

Each casemate was equipped with heavy weapons, ammunition stores, housing, kitchens, and communications facilities. They were designed to withstand an enemy attack and provide a solid defensive base for defending troops.
