Its north flank flows two streams, which belong to the tributaries of the upper reaches Nibel called Eschach. The only larger pond on the Hohenkapf is the Eschacher Weiher on its eastern flank.
The Hohenkapf is accessed by several hiking trails. While you can see impressive views from various places along these trails, for example to the mountain Blender, in the direction of Illertal, to the Ammergauer and Allgäu Alps and to the mountain ridges Sonneneck and Hauchenberg, there is no prospect on its heavily wooded summit.
