Located at the foot of the Hornisgrinde, the dam collects water from the BalckForest over the years. It is located at around 700m above sea level and is right next to the Hochstrasse.
There's a lot going on here on nice, warm days, especially during the weekend. I recommend that you park below the dam coming from the L83 via Forbach (not so well known and plenty of parking spaces). From there you can walk straight up to the dam and be right in the action, give it a try.
