Brutally steep climb winding up out of Ambergate, featured as the location for the Belper CC Hill Climb. The climb starts after the bridge under the trees. It quickly reaches a quad-burning gradient as it clambers out of the cover of the woods and into the open. It never really flattens out along the course so the best way to get up is as fast as possible. I found myself in the lowest gear throughout, wishing I had another gear to grind. Wet conditions may make this climb tough, as I mainly relied on being able to get out of the saddle.

Not sure it's a highlight but certainly a challenging climb with the steepest part at the beginning and the climbing lasting for ages - 20+ minutes in my case!

Lovely bit of climbing from the bottom of the Derwent Valley rewarded with splendid views. A steep, gloomy start opens out into a section of reduced incline that then goes on... and on...
