    The Window Stream

    The Fensterbach rises on the western slope of the 673 meter high Rotbühl in the community of Schnaittenbach in the district of Amberg-Sulzbach and, after a 29.63 km long, predominantly south-easterly course, flows south of Deiselkühn in the community of Schwandorf in the district of Schwandorf from the right into the Naab. The Fensterbach drains a catchment area of more than 102 km².
    The Fensterbach flows along its entire course through an area that is very rich in water and springs, and whose abundance of water is used for numerous fish ponds. Extensive fish pond areas accompany the Fensterbach along its entire course, and countless small and large unnamed streams flow into it from the left and right. Since the right, southwestern side of the river is not quite as steep, the pond areas are somewhat more numerous and extensive on this side.
    An old long-distance road, a variant of the so-called “Zigeunerweg” or “Steinhöppel”, ran parallel to the Fensterbach on its north-east bank. It led from Hiltersdorf through the villages of Högling, Jeding, Wolfring, Knölling, Dürnsricht and Kögl to Schwarzenfeld.
