The small St. Christopher Church was built in the 12th century as a pre-Romanesque stone church. Inside there is an altarpiece from 1730 and several medieval oak figures. Around the church nestles the cemetery, bounded by a large entrance gate. A small road leads around the church and cemetery. You should take the time to go around there and if possible to enter the church and the churchyard. One feels transported to the time when cemeteries were still created around the churches. A nice and cute kind of ensemble. Church and cemetery are among the Schleswig-Holstein cultural monuments. It is amazing that the church has a separately built bell tower. But even for this there is an "explanation": According to legend, the churches of Medelby and Großenwiehe were built by two giants who had only a hammer. They threw each other when needed. In case of a failed litter they damaged the church tower of the Wallsbüller church and since then there is only a low, separate bell tower; o).
