Bluestone was mined in quarries for several centuries. In the mid-1880s, the Recht slate adit was dug by the Margraff brothers in order to open up lucrative roof slate deposits at a lower level. The surface mining in the quarries had become too difficult due to the depths reached.

From the 17th to the beginning of the 20th century, Recht was characterized by bluestone processing. The stonemasons ensured an economic boom in the village. Recht became known beyond the region for its bluestone. This bluish slate was initially mined there in open-cast mining and from 1880 onwards in underground mining. Before the First World War, the mine on the south-eastern edge of the village was exhausted and closed. Since May 18, 2007, it has been open to visitors again.

Entrance to the bar is free, where there are a series of photos and artifacts related to the mine. For 8 Euro (adults) you get access to the underground mine (with audioguide) and a movie. There are also guided tours upon reservation.
