In 1251, Knight Steinmar von Sießen-Strahlegg donated his townhouse in the Saulgauer Bogengasse 15 to the convent of the sisters of "Slagen". In 1260 he gave the Dominican nuns of "Sulgay" his court in "Süessen" and the patronage rights of the local church. The Wendelinuskapelle and Hermitage on the Sießener footpath was built in 1386.

1632/34, the monastery was looted by Sweden and set on fire.

In 1716/22 the Vorarlberg master builder Franz Beer von Au rebuilt the monastery buildings in the Baroque style.
