Villa Carpeneto, a splendid baroque and neoclassical noble residence, is located in the La Loggia area, in the agricultural plain south of Turin, near the municipal boundary with Vinovo.

Grafted on a pre-existing medieval castle believed to have belonged to the Vagnone di Trofarello family and later to the Counts of Valperga, the house owes its first renovation to the will of Gaspare Graneri , native of Ceres sopra Lanzo Torinese, who had settled in Distinguished in the services of the Savoy court, he rose to the position of "generalissimo" of finance and established himself as one of the most prominent political figures of the seventeenth-century Piedmontese. A few years before his death, in 1661, he founded the Camaldolese Hermitage of Lanzo, which earned the nickname "Father of the Poor" for this and other charitable initiatives.

The Graneri dynastic coat of arms is still visible inside the building, with the ear of corn (pun on the surname "Graneri") surmounted by a tower, a reference to the locality of La Roche in Savoy (today La Roche-sur-Foron ), from which the family had acquired feudal and margravial titles at the time of Tommaso, son of Gaspare. Gaspare Graneri promoted massive modernization works that transformed the ancient castle into a splendid country residence: clear evidence of this first construction site remains in the current structure, particularly in the facade facing Vinovo, which overlooks the garden and pond.

According to the research of local historian Gervasio Cambiano, a second tranche of building work dates back to the decade 1769/1779, when the Marquis Gian Luigi Graneri called upon the brilliant architect Francesco Dellala di Beinasco (appointed royal architect in 1772) to design the facade facing poplar avenue in the then fashionable designed in neoclassical forms. During this period, the bed of the nearby Oitana stream was also worked, which was straightened for more than a kilometer to make it suitable for navigation with pleasure boats: this year a regatta organized by the Marquis Graneri in honor of the Savoy court was held these Section. , which he delivered to the engraver Ignazio Sclopis (1727-1793) Starting point for two views of the villa and park.

Villa Carpeneto, which passed to Count Gerbaix de Sonnaz, husband of Enrichetta Graneri, at the end of the 18th century, later changed hands several times until 1939 when it was sold to Count Theo Rossi of Montelera, who kept it and stuccoed it embellished paintings, until 1959. From that date, acquired by a Swiss company, the magnificent property, witness to centuries of aristocratic life, experienced progressive decay and is unfortunately uninhabited today, unfurnished and neglected.

Based on press reports, the municipal administration of La Loggia appears to be interested in purchasing the historic house for the purpose of conservation restoration and cultural conversion.
