                                  "The Neuenahrer Berg, with its 340-meter-high, striking volcanic peak, is Bad Neuenahr-Ahrweiler's local mountain. At its summit are the ruins of Neuenahr Castle and an observation tower. The tower is popularly known as the "long Köbes" (long squire) and can be climbed at any time.

                                  The former Neuenahr Castle was built around 1225 and was then the official residence of the lords of the County of Neuenahr. However, the castle, once a symbol of power and prestige, was destroyed in 1372 by Ahrweiler's citizen riflemen during a feud on the orders of the Archbishop of Cologne, Friedrich von Saarwerden. Since this event, the castle has fallen into total ruin.

                                  In 1972, a reinforced concrete observation tower was built on the remains of the former Neuenahr Castle. From this tower, visitors enjoy breathtaking panoramic views of Bad Neuenahr-Ahrweiler, the picturesque Ahr Valley, across the Rhine to the Siebengebirge Mountains and far into the valley. Today, the independent municipality of Grafschaft. Nearby Lantershofen is also clearly visible, and the Lambertus Church is only about 3,400 meters away as the crow flies. On clear days, the observation tower even offers a view of Cologne Cathedral.

                                  The Neuenahrer Berg and its observation tower are thus not only an imposing landmark, but also a place that combines history and nature. Visitors can enjoy the beauty of the surrounding landscape and experience far-reaching views of the region.

                                  The climb to the Neuenahrer Berg is steep and takes about an hour from the Bad Neuenahr spa park across the Paradieswiese meadow directly to the observation tower. The 7th stage of the AhrSteig trail also passes through this area.
