The local mountain, the Eckwald, towers above the small town of Unterharmersbach. Many years ago, an old woman lived there all alone. Because of her ugly appearance, people always spoke of the "witch of the Eckwald". Her old and torn clothes also contributed to the origin of her name. Every resident of Unterharmersbach who had heard this story from his parents or had it passed on to him was afraid late in the evening The mere thought of seeing or meeting the witch triggered fear and terror in the children.

One day a man was found dead in Eckwald and since that day the witch is said not to have been seen in Eckwald. Whether this old woman had anything to do with the death of the man is not known to this day......"
