    The coal track connected the coal washing plant with the coal harbour. The coal was transported straight through the city to the canal. A cycle and walking path is being constructed next to the tracks. An experience-packed route that tells the story of the transport and the people who lived next to the track. Viewpoints, rest areas and information boards immediately put you on the right track.

    The Kolenspoor was a tourist railway in Belgium between Waterschei and Eisden, on the route of a section of the former railway line 21A (Waterschei-As) and on the route of the former railway line 21B (As-Eisden). Tourist trips were made on the line with old railway equipment.

    Until a few years ago, the railway line was used as far as Eisden. Due to the poor condition of the track, this later became impossible. Since 2014, tourist operations have been suspended along the entire line and since 2015 the association “vzw Kolenspoor” has completely lost its concession for the Waterschei – As – Eisden section. The poor condition of the rails made it impossible to run trains on the route.
