Here's arguably the most authentic place to enjoy prawns - unless you've fished them yourself on horseback, pulse and eat them right there on the beach.

The Estaminet de Peerdevisscher restaurant is a real family business: Corinne, Johan, Ella and Ian look forward to your visit. Three generations of the family are "Peerdevisscher" and the next generation is already in the starting blocks.

The story began with "de rostn" Durant, the family's first mounted shrimp fisherman. After that, son-in-law Eddy D'Hulster took over the passion and business, who in turn passed it on to son-in-law Johan Casier. Now the fourth generation is getting ready: Ian Van der Stricht will one day take over the reins, both in the kitchen and on horseback.

But the women in this family also stand up for themselves: both Rosa Durant and Corinne D'Hulster have mastered the art of horse fishing.
