The bridge with three names. It was initially built in 1904 as a purely wooden structure in just eight weeks! As a pedestrian bridge, it was intended to shorten the way for residents of Guben's Nordstadt and Bergstadt districts to get to the train station and to work in the industrial companies located west of the Neisse. Because the municipal slaughterhouse was located on the west bank of the bridge, the bridge was also called the slaughterhouse bridge. The third name for this bridge was Park Bridge. Just a few weeks before the bridge opened, Koenigspark, northeast of the city, was completed as a public recreation area for the citizens of Guben. Shortly before the end of the Second World War - in April 1945 - the north bridge (like all Guben bridges) was blown up by the German Wehrmacht.
