The old town hall, which is located in the middle of the street, was built in 1717 and inaugurated under Mayor Johan Bastian Bauer. The town hall has been a listed building since 1905; it is two-storey, with a large granary under the hipped roof. The basement is made of solid rubble stone with sandstone corner blocks. The upper floor was built using half-timbering. In the basement there is a passageway in a north-south direction. Until 1973, traffic was still directed through the town hall and only then was a bypass built around the town hall. From 1974, the Museum of Folklore in Hesse was located in the rooms of the town hall, and from 1984 to around 1999 the Toy Museum, a department of the Otzberg Museum, was set up there. Since 2009, the Museum of Odenwald Folk Culture has been located there, which is also run by Gerd J. Grein. In the immediate vicinity of the Old Town Hall is the former baroque customs house from 1707 (cellar from 1521) with a striking bay window on the east side. It is now privately owned. Road tolls were collected here when goods and other items were imported from the neighboring state of Hesse-Darmstadt (Lengfeld and the Oberamt Otzberg were an exclave of the Electorate of the Palatinate until 1803).
