The transformer house was built in 1926 in the brick construction typical of the time.
The client was the intercity center Hoya based in Altenbücken. The basis of the little house was a drawing by Siemens Schuckertwerke Münster. The transformer house was used to transform the high voltage to the voltage required for households.

In 1998, during canal construction work, the overhead lines were laid underground and new, smaller transformer stations were built for the installation of the new street lighting. Since the old transformer was no longer needed, demolition was planned. A citizens' meeting on July 10, 1998 also dealt with the issue of preservation or demolition. As a result, the transformer association Anderten was founded and the rights and obligations for the transformer were transferred to the association.

The transformer house was finally renovated by the association and thus secured for the future. The interior is accessible up to the first floor, from which there is a good view. Outside there is a board with information on the development of the power supply in the country. In addition, an exhibition of pictures and objects that provide information about the electricity supply is planned for the interior.
