The medieval church made of raw and hewn fieldstone consists of a rectangular hall, a five-sided apse and a square western tower. The nave was heavily built over in 1866 using the remains of old walls from a previous building from 1542, extended to the east and significantly raised. The decorated east gable and the buttress occupied apse are built in brick shell. Two brick portals in the south wall have been preserved in their original form. In 1906 the tower (brick with a slate cap) was rebuilt and the nave extended to the west.
A bronze bell from 1564 hangs in the tower. There is also a second undated bronze bell. In the sanctuary there is a late Gothic winged altar from the late 15th century. It is of unknown (North German?) origin and, according to legend, was looted by the Postliners from the Thirty Years' War. The altar shows in the middle field Maria with the child on the crescent moon in a halo, the five stigmata and angels playing music.
