Muswell is a funny one. Too long to sprint up, easy enough to start and then just gets continually harder. Not sure if it's a mental thing with me but I used to go up here on a 48/17 fixie and now I struggle in the small ring. It has a habit of kicking you when you're down, the traffic can also be heavy, although there's a bus lane the whole way up. But the traffic fumes and the brutal last kick up to the roundabout will leave you gasping for air. It's great for hill reps, mixed in with Ally Pally. I would recommend selecting a lower gear and keeping your cadence high so you feel like you're in control, otherwise it can eat you up.

A great London climb, and right next to Alexandra Palace and close to Highgate, so plenty of opportunity to build your climbing legs around the area!

Be aware - this can be highlight but warning at the same time as well. :) It just depends what do you look for. Muswell hill is great climb with average climbing grade 9% but has segments with 13% as well. Great thing about this hill is that ascent is exatly 50m. So if you would like to do Mount Everest challenge you would have to climb this hill exactly 177 times. :) Have fun!:)
