Dommelbeemden and Moerkuilen is a nature reserve of Staatsbosbeheer in the Dutch province of North Brabant at a bend in the Dommeldal northeast of Nijnsel near Sint-Oedenrode. [1] It is located on the Lieshoutsedijk, not far from the A50 motorway. The protected area measures over 100 hectares.

Dommelbeemden
The Dommelbeemden consist of sparse hay meadows with pollard willows, including rattles and orchids. an old densely growing meander of the Dommel with many water lilies. Bolakkers have traditionally been located on a higher part that forms part of the Central Brabant sand ridge.

Nut pits
De Moerkuilen borders the Dommelbeemden. It is a peat bog in the Dommeldal with, among other things, water lilies, fountain herbs, snake root and sedges. The puddle was created in a layer of peat soil that was excavated for peat extraction. The river Dommel steamed along a higher plateau, of which there remains a striking steep edge. Around the fish-rich peat pond that attracts many birds, a trouser forest has been created, which is bordered by overgrown river dunes. There is a varied flora, including rod and valley herb.

Accessibility
In both nature reserves, different footpaths run through sometimes difficult terrain. There is a 4.5 km long marked hiking trail. There is a parking space on the Lieshoutsedijk with an information board from the State Forest Service about flora and fauna.

In order to get to the Moerkuilen, coming from Sint Oedenrode, you hike through a wonderful, quiet nature worth seeing.
Arrived at this great observation tower, you have a wonderful view of the surrounding nature.
I have here at this beautiful place
picked up my backpack provisions and this pause in the silence
really enjoyed.
The way back from our circular hike also leads through mixed forest and past lakes, through the small town of Nijnsel, with its pretty nostalgia museum, back to our starting point.
A very nice hike!!!!
