    "... The Sint-Fabianus- und Sebastianuskerk is the parish church of Sevenum at Markt 1.
    A wooden church must have stood here around 1200. A stone single-nave church was built around 1300. In 1514 the tower was built in the Gothic style and around this time the church was enlarged by two naves. In 1879 the old church was replaced by a three-nave neo-Gothic hall church designed by Pierre Cuypers. The tower was spared.

    However, the tower was blown up by the Germans on November 22, 1944, which destroyed the entire church. Since then services have been held in emergency churches.

    In 1954 the construction of a new church, designed by Hendrik Valk, began. The church was built with Gothic style elements. The new tower followed, but was not a copy of the original tower. He has reached the same height. The church was consecrated in 1955.

    It is a brick basilica church. The square tower has four sections. The tower is flanked by a lower polygonal stair tower. Below, the tower is flanked by a baptistery and a chapel of Our Lady, both of identical appearance. The transept is located on the east side so that the churchgoers in the transept can see the altar.

    The interior is characterized by clean masonry. The church has beautiful stained glass windows, some by Daan Wildschut, and there is a Verschueren organ from after WWII. ..."
