Completely preserved side tower of the Roman fort Commagenis from the 4th century. Part of the oldest city fortifications and protective structure for the Danube trade until the 13th century. Salt warehouse since the 15th century. Formerly a salt tower. Restored in 1984 and 2004.

The Roman or Salt Tower was once one of the intermediate towers on the west side of the fort, which was built as a horseshoe tower in the first half of the 4th century AD as part of the massive reinforcement of the fortifications of the fort.

The tower, which is still around 10 meters or 4 floors high up to the edge of the roof and is completely preserved in its original condition, is the only one that is still preserved from the western fort wall and is one of the best-preserved buildings from the Roman period in the Danube region.

The tower was restored in 1984 and 2004 and the entrance on the east side was also restored. It can only be viewed from the outside.
