    The hermitage of Vrijhern has been an important centre of reflection for both pilgrims and other hermits since the 17th century. And even now, believers still find their way to Vrijhern. Every year, on 15 August, the Marian celebrations take place.
    The half-timbered house in which the hermitage is located dates from the 17th century. Along the former monastery section we find a small school, where poor children from the area were taught. The 18th century Loreto chapel is an exact copy of a chapel in the Italian pilgrimage site of Loreto.
    In short: a site that breathes history. The hermitage is therefore set up as a publicly accessible site, where you can immerse yourself in the life of the hermit.
    The chapel, which includes a beautiful stained glass window, is open daily. In the former classroom and on the adjacent, quiet terrace you can have a drink on Sunday afternoon.
