    The oldest building is the Catholic parish church of St. Michael.
    Excavations carried out in 1967/68 point to smaller predecessor buildings from the 8th, 9th and 11th centuries. In addition, remains of Roman walls were uncovered and 6 Roman coins from the 2nd and 3rd centuries were found. A part of an early Christian grave slab is considered the oldest Christian testimony in our area. Today's west tower dates from the 13th century, the nave from the 15th century. After the fire in the Gothic church in 1689, today's bonnet helmet was put on. During the restoration in 1967/69, more than 70 stonemason's marks were found inside the church. The painting is largely based on historical models. The pulpit, a remarkable work from around 1490, is made of sandstone. In the church there are funerary monuments from the 15th to 18th centuries of members of the local nobility, officials and leading citizens of the city. The northwest entrance is open.
    The Michaelskirche existed as a simultaneous church until 1965. Then the Protestant parish built the Friedenskirche.
