Typical for Sint-Jan-in-Eremo are the five creeks (approx. 65 ha). The creeks are old peat pits, which were created by the exploitation of the bog or peat areas. These pits were increasingly eroded during numerous floods and storm surges. The Bentillekreek is one of the five creeks in Sint-Jan-in-Eremo. It has a very irregular shape and is bordered by the Leopold Canal.

The Bentillekreek is the only creek in the Sint-Margriete and Sint-Jan-in-Eremo creek area south of the Leopold Canal.
