      Those who hike on the Amdener Höhenweg will come across protected moorland on the section of the trail over the Hintere Höhi: a swampy natural landscape of national importance overgrown with leg pines characterizes the picture.
      Only survivors are able to thrive on the wet, acidic and barren soil. For example the insectivorous sundew, cotton grass or the inconspicuous sedge. In the somewhat drier peripheral area, the so-called heather, blueberries and alpine roses prevail.
      The high moor is on the Amdener Höhenweg, which leads from the Mattstock mountain station chairlift over the Hintere Höhi to the Arvenbüel. This beautiful landscape can be reached on foot in about 50 minutes. You should expect 3 hours for the entire Amdener Höhenweg.
      In the Ammler Hochmoor not only a rich flora thrives, also less tangible inhabitants have found their home here. Rumor has it that airy moor elves inhabit the area. The aerial creatures appeared in the moor and the adjacent areas as wafts of mist, hovering in long, meter-long layers just above the ground.
