The station was established on November 15, 1868 on the section Tychy - Czechowice-Dziedzice, the German Right Bank Odra Railway (Rechte-Oder-Ufer-Eisenbahn).
On November 21, 1938, the station became a junction when the railway line from Rybnik to Pszczyna was opened for use.
In the station building, built in 1890, there is a waiting room with a ticket office.
