    At first glance the chapel looks really old with beautiful marl stones, but it apparently dates from the second half of the 19th century. However, a statue of Our Lady of the Angels has been venerated in the same place since the sixteenth century. The chapel was very dilapidated and was restored in the 1980s when it was also donated to the city of Sint-Truiden by the de Moffarts family.         The history of the chapel was described by E. Vavedin on the basis of a preserved stone with an inscription that was in the chapel until the 1960s. According to this inscription, an image of Our Lady of the Angels has been venerated here since the 16th century. This statue first hung on a tree on the Nieuwenhoven estate of the Sint-Trudo Abbey. In 1630, a field chapel was founded by Abbot Hubert Germeys and Matthaeus Wyshooft. In 1782 the chapel was restored by Abbot "Remigius Mottaer". After the French Revolution, the chapel, like the Nieuwenhoven domain, was sold in 1797 and probably fell into disrepair after that. The current chapel was erected in the second half of the 19th century (around 1860) in conjunction with the neo-Gothic renovation of the castle under Baron Charles Whetnall. In the interior there was a large statue of Our Lady of the Angels. This statue has been in the Church of Our Lady of Sint-Truiden since the 1970s. After the 1980 restoration, a new painting of Francis of Assisi was installed. The chapel was rededicated on May 30, 1980.
