The Church of San Lorenzo de Llerana is a temple whose origin dates back to the Middle Ages (S.XII). It has a Latin cross plan with a rectangular transept apse with two side chapels and a single-section nave; At the foot stands a tower topped by a stone pyramid that surrounds a balustrade. In an inscription the year 1666 is stated as the date of completion (in the first years of the 18th century the portico and the choir were erected).
It houses four altarpieces; the largest was drawn by Juan de la Puente Agüero, a resident of Camargo around 1707 and executed by Juan de Acebo, it has a striking closure in the attic, between a shell and a semicircle. Interesting is also the altarpiece of the gospel that houses an image of the Virgin of Guadalupe, brought from Mexico.

In the portico of the temple there is a straight wooden cross, as a shrine.

Saint Laurentius (San Lorenzo), to whom this church in Saro is dedicated, is one of the early Christian martyrs from a time when Christianity was still forbidden. He was Archdeacon of the Pope and asked by the pagan emperor to hand over the treasure of the Church. Laurentius asked for three days' time, in the meantime he distributed the church property among the poor inhabitants of Rome and, after the agreed time, came with the poor to the emperor in order to present them to him as the church's treasure. He was then martyred to death, legend has it that he was alive on a grate - this attribute can be seen in many depictions of Saint Laurentius - roasted over coals. He is said to have been in good spirits and told his executioner on the one hand he was ready, whether he didn't want to turn him over.
The commemoration of San Lorenzo in the calendar of saints is August 10th.
