On Sundays and public holidays, it is also open from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.

In the 1980s, archaeologists uncovered the foundations of the former Benedictine monastery, which was one of the spiritual centers of power in northern Germany from 1102 to 1647. In the Middle Ages and the early modern period, there were only a few monasteries directly subordinate to the Pope. Harsefeld Monastery was one of them. However, during the post-monastic period, a large part of the monastery complex fell into disrepair.
