The butterfly nest is a historic excursion restaurant in the Köpenick district of Berlin's Treptow-Köpenick district. The garden restaurant, which opened in 1898, was heavily bombed in 1943 and rebuilt in 1947, has been owned by the Bezirkssportbund Treptow-Köpenick e. V. operated as a non-profit school, sports and hiking base.

For day trippers, the facility offers a snack bar with chairs, tables and play equipment in the garden (as of 2012). A butterfly collection is presented in a permanent exhibition in an adjoining hall. The name of the house goes back to the collection. According to the operator, it is the second largest exhibition of its kind in Europe and the largest in Germany. [1] The butterfly nest is located in the Teufelssee area of the Köpenick Forestry Office of the Berlin Forests on the north bank of the Long Lake, east of the Wendenschloss seaside resort. The Grünau lido is located on the opposite south bank of the lake through which the Dahme flows.
