Enjoy the rich history of the beautiful Victorian Hughenden Manor. The mansion was once the country house of the Prime Minister, Benjamin Disraeli, however, is now open to the public to explore between 11am - 4pm 7 days a week.

Hughenden Manor is a red brick Victorian mansion, located near High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire, England. In the 19th century, it was the country house of the Prime Minister, Benjamin Disraeli, 1st Earl of Beaconsfield. Today, it is owned by the National Trust and fully open to the public. It sits on the brow of the hill to the west of the main A4128 road that links Hughenden to High Wycombe.

Return to the 1940s at Hughenden on 16 and 17 September 2017 at the annual living history weekend, capturing all the nostalgia of war-time Britain.

This imposing red-brick manor was built at the end of the 18th century before being heavily remodeled by Edward Lamb, "one of the most perverse and original of mid-Victorian architects". There have however been records of a manor on this land since 1086 when it was owned by William, son of Oger.

It was owned by the Disraeli family and was the childhood home for former British Prime Minister, Benjamin Disraeli. It was bought by his father Isaac D'israeli with the assistance of a loan of nearly £1.5 million in today's value because it was considered uncouth for the leader of the Conservative party to not be a landowner.

During the Second World War, the building heritage was enhanced even further with its usage as a secret intelligence base. Codenamed 'Hillside', it was used by Air Ministry staff to analyse aerial photography of Germany and create maps for bombing missions including the famous Dambusters run.

Nowadays it's owned by the National Trust and can be explored between 11 am and 5 pm seven days a week.
