The old Kleist Tower was blown up by the German army around February 20, 1945. Almost two decades ago there were the first ideas to build another observation tower on the Kleisthöhe.
Funding was provided through ERDF funding from the Interreg program, which included the construction of the Bollfrashaus in Frankfurt (Oder) (completed in 2014), the lighting of the Oder Bridge (realized in 2021) and the construction of the Kleist Tower on the Kleisthöhe in Slubice Amount of 4.08 million zloty secured for this tower. With planned construction costs of around 7 million zloty, the city of Slubice will have its own contribution of around 3 million zloty.

At the highest point of the Kleisthöhe, at 66 meters, the 30 meter high observation tower is intended to provide a wide view of the Oder Valley. The two viewing platforms (glazed or free) can be reached by elevator or stairs. A children's playground and picnic arbor will be built at the base of the tower.

The shell was largely completed at the end of April 2021. At that time, it was assumed that the tower would be completed in June 2021 and that it would open, including the outdoor facilities, in autumn 2021.

As of November 27, 2021, only the shell of the tower remains standing. April 2022 is currently mentioned as the completion date for the tower.
