One of the most vivid natural monuments in the municipality of Grossenkneten is the oak at the Schüttenkofen near Sage. Owner Heinrich Schütte has known the veteran since childhood and still remembers the kofen (sheepfold) that gave the tree its name. The now 88-year-old regularly visits the approximately 300-year-old free-standing sessile oak and is pleased that the approximately 18-metre-high tree is healthy and has survived parasites, rot and every storm so far. Using a tape measure, he determined a trunk circumference of 5.60 meters and a crown diameter of 32 meters. The natural monument is signposted from the "Zur Sager Heide" road.
