The Egelsbach Transmitter Facility, a US communications and SIGINT station, is located in a wooded area near Egelsbach.
The site has been used by the United States Armed Forces (US Department of Defense) since the end of World War II.
The current owner is the Wiesbaden Headquarters of the US Land Forces in Europe (7th US Army).

The system is used to guide and control communications in military areas of operation.
Protected by barbed wire and a fence, there are huge antenna systems and company buildings on the approx. 30 hectare open space.
The site is guarded by the US military police and local security services.

There are 20 mostly logarithmic-periodic shortwave antennas (horizontally polarized) from TCI International on the site.
There are now eight large and small radomes. Microwave radio relay systems are located on mast structures.
Two of these microwave dishes point in the direction of what was then the Rhein-Main Air Base.

While other US military facilities were being shut down or downsized in the 2000s, expansion work was taking place on the ETF's premises. In 2011, for example, the five-meter radome was built.

In 2003, a ZDF documentary raised the suspicion that the system was used to broadcast programs from the number channel Cynthia.
This was never confirmed by the US military, but the programs in the vicinity of the site can be received with a receiver without an antenna, which indicates a significant signal strength of the shortwave signal.

I also once heard of the Echelon global spy network, run by intelligence services from the US, UK, Australia, New Zealand and Canada, in connection with this facility.

Egelsbach - Rhein-Main at the center of the US fight against terror? During investigations, reporters have found that the US has organized large-scale wiretapping, kidnapping and torture from the region.

We are talking about an eerie shadow army that is growing year by year: Since yesterday, the results of a research project (“The Secret War”) by Norddeutscher Rundfunk and the Süddeutsche Zeitung on US secret service and military operations in Germany have been presented. It is about extensive activities and new forms of espionage. The spies are mathematicians, statisticians and experts in all kinds of data processing. They work for corporations that receive orders from the secret services and do the dirty work. According to research, US agents are said to have arrested suspects at German airports, including Frankfurt; Asylum seekers have been researched and information gathered that could play a role in determining drone targets. According to the reporter team, a US secret service company that works for the "National Security Agency" (NSA) and planned kidnapping flights for the CIA has received millions in orders from the German government to date.

        Part 2...
What is striking: The American secret service center is the Rhine-Main area. From here, US agents operate on a large scale. In the north of Frankfurt, the CIA operates a large logistics center in an inconspicuous industrial yard. "Anyone who looks around there too closely will get a visit from the police," it says. The 66th Military Intelligence Brigade is based, among other things, from the NSA base in Wiesbaden. The Dagger Complex in Griesheim near Darmstadt is also used by the US secret service.

The radio station of the US Army in the forest near Egelsbach is also being discussed again. The military does not reveal exactly what is happening there. Rumors about secret service espionage can be heard again and again. Mayor Jürgen Sieling, who has been in office since 2012, would like to counter the speculation with solid information - but: it doesn't exist. "Years ago, my predecessors asked similar questions, but received evasive answers at best." In view of the renewed interest in the bullets of the listening station, the municipal board recently decided to write a new question. "We will send them to the European headquarters of the US armed forces in Wiesbaden," says Sieling, "that's step one." The second would be letters to the US embassy or consulate. "But we've had all that before - without success," he is under no illusions.

The federal government contradicted reports of alleged German aid for deadly US drone missions. Measures restricting freedom may only be carried out in accordance with German law.
