Maren is one of the old villages (at least fifty, scattered between the hills and the plains) that characterize the urban structure of Vittorio Veneto. Located on a magnificent plateau of glacial origin overlooking the Val Lapisina, today it has a residential nucleus consisting of 4 families. It acts a bit as the capital of other small surrounding villages, now uninhabited and a destination only for tourism (Pradal, Valscura and Valcalda). Here the restaurant of the farmhouse il Bosco is active (agriturismoilbosco.com).

Next to the central church dedicated to Santa Elisabetta, there is a private house with five beautiful arches overlooking the courtyard. It is what remains of an ancient convent dating back to the thirteenth century, a secondary unit of the underlying monastery of Santa Giustina wanted by Gabriele Da Camino and entrusted first to the Benedictines of Padua, then to the nuns of Soprana Da Camino. After the edicts of Napoleon, which forced the nuns to retire to Serravalle, the property passed into private hands, precisely to Count Licer and sold to settlers until the current owner. On the evening of the feast of Sant'Antonio Abate, there was the custom of giving a bowl of soup and bread to those who went to visit Maren. A custom implemented by the nuns towards the poor, and that private individuals kept alive. Today this nice tradition has been lost.
